This issue we’re proud to be celebrating the 45th anniversary of Canadian Living magazine. It was in December 1975 that we debuted in supermarkets across the country with a mandate to inspire and inform readers in all things lifestyle, from food to fashion, DIYs to destination travel, human interest to holiday decorating. To date, that’s more than 500 issues packed full of all the things you love! Together, in that time, we’ve witnessed the signing of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the recognition of a new territory, the closing of residential schools and the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the legalization of same-sex marriage and marijuana, the birth—and death—of some of our most treasured cultural icons, the first female prime minister, the determination and grit of the phenomenal Terry Fox. We’ve watched Canada host the Olympic Games, witnessed the referendums, the trade deals, the scandals, protests and mass shootings, the toll of SARS and COVID-19, the arrival of Y2K, the internet, smartphones, social media, Netflix, #metoo and #blacklivesmatter. Together, we’ve delved a little deeper into the issues that affect our country and shared some clarity and compassion about the way we all see the world.
